We’re proud to award a $20,000 bespoke shade sail to Cottage Kindergarten

Providing shade and protection from New Zealand’s harsh sun is something we’re really passionate about at Lidgard Shades, and we have been for 50 years. So it was a natural fit to get involved as sponsors of Melanoma New Zealand to help spread the word and educate people on being sun smart – and to understand the effects the sun can have on our adults and tamariki.

To kick off our sponsorship, we’ve been very excited to get involved with Melanoma New Zealand’s Awareness Campaign “Get Spotted” this year.

As part of the campaign, primary schools, kindergartens and early education centres across the country have been taking part in the competition to raise awareness about melanoma, with the chance to win their very own Lidgard custom designed and built shade sail to the value of $20,000.

Adam Wilson our Managing Director, went to meet the winners, The Cottage Kindergarten Invercargill last week, to award them their prize.

Currently with no outdoor shade to protect the kids and their teachers, we are thrilled to be able to create Cottage Kindergarten their very own bespoke shade sail to allow them to play safely outdoors. 

Adam says: “It has been so rewarding for the whole team to be able to make a big difference for a school like this …It’s so important that we have great sun protective environments so kids can play safely every day”.

We encourage everyone to be sun smart throughout the year and in particular to get your family and friends to take care of their skin in the sun and to check their skin regularly for any changes.
